Parents

Parents Can Make a Significant Difference!
Extensive research shows that parents and families whanautanga can be a vital factor in keeping children from becoming involved with the harmful use of drugs, including alcohol.

We want to encourage you not to take your hands off your children during their teenage years but to stay involved and connected. So often we talk to parents while standing on the sports side line or at the school gate who are feeling overwhelmed at the possibility of drug and alcohol involvement during their children’s teenage years – some seemed to have resigned themselves to “This is the way it is, while others put their heads in the sand and say “This won’t affect my child”.

Better informed parents communicate more effectively, and a knowledge of available resources puts parents in a position to significantly reduce the risks.

The reality is: it will affect your child but you are the key influence
in how your child responds.
